We've left the UK!!

Not to allow things to be too simple we decided to split our move, Gordon headed to Brunei to get started and we (that's me and the 2 horrors) headed to France to live off my parents for 3 months.

Funny but you convince yourself that time will fly and that it will all be fantastic and everything will just fall into place perfectly. Well that is wonderful in fantasy land but in reality it was really hard going. However, no matter how hard we all thought it was it was definitely worth while for lots of different reasons!

Gordon left Aberdeen on the 23rd August and arrived in Bandar Seri Bagawan at 2am and was taken on the 1 1/2 hour (minimum) drive to Kuala Belait (KB) to be checked into the Seaview Hotel. Sounds nice doesn't it, again reality sucks!

Although the Seaview is a nice enough hotel (picture above), living in a small room for 3 months on your own with no cooking facilities or fridge certainly takes it's toll (ask anyone who has spent time at Tulliallan, the Scottish Police College). The plus side of course was that he didn't have us to distract him (ie. moan, groan, demand to be taken places and general niggling).

Not to be outdone we said goodbye to France and headed to London for a couple of days shopping before jumping on a plane and following in Gordon's footsteps. So on the 20th November 2009 we arrived in Brunei, looking rather like a Banshee when I got off the plane with 2 very crumpled children (not the "just stepped out of a salon" style I was hoping for after not seeing my other half for 3 months) we were just over the moon to be back together as a family.
